Salad dressing is another one of those always, always “Make it Homemade”s. For being seemingly so simple, bottle salad dressings can be packed with gross ingredients and add-ins, like toxic plant oils, preservatives and a whole lot of white sugar to boot! Talk about unnecessary, especially when they are SO super simple to make at home, and a lot more delicious (in my opinion). Plus, the options are endless! Here are three of my favorite go-to salad dressings, always homemade, always health-promoting, always delicious.
Chipotle Honey Dressing
(my version of Chipotle’s salad dressing)
1 dried chipotle pepper, crushed (strain out or leave in for extra kick)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup white balsamic vinegar
2-4 tbsp honey
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp onion powder
pinch cayenne pepper, for extra heat
sea salt, to taste
1. Whisk or shake all ingredients. Let sit for at least one hour. Strain peppers (if desired) and season to taste.
Lemon-Dill Yogurt Dressing
2 tbsp chopped or dried dill (fresh is best!)
1/2 cup plain whole milk yogurt
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
sea salt, to taste
1. Whisk or shake all ingredients until combined. Serve.
Savory Sesame Dressing
1/2 cup toasted sesame oil
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tbsp tamari
1 tbsp honey
1/4 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp sesame seeds
sea salt, to taste
1. Whisk or shake all ingredients until combined. Serve.
